Programme

After the successful launch of our Graduate Programme last year we are delighted to reopen for applications and begin the search for new talent to join us in our continued growth.  Our Graduate Programme is made up of various placements in different areas of the business, which will aim to give you a well-rounded understanding of the company, invaluable international experience and a strong foundation across all the core disciplines within the company.

For each placement, successful graduates will have a defined job scope with room for ever increasing responsibilities and the opportunity to really impact the business with your own ideas whilst learning from our experienced team members. Potential tasks within each discipline could include:

Operations

  1. Review and analyse procedures across the Eastern Hemisphere.
  2. Assist with the management of a major project.
  3. Get three months' in-depth experience in any of the following fields:  project management, logistics or quality assurance.

Finance

  1. Gain a full understanding of the Financial Close, Consolidation and financial statement preparation process through working in both local and group finance teams.
  2. Assist with the audit process, both internal and external auditing.
  3. Participate in a key business development project to gain an understanding of Finance input into major projects.

Sales

  1. Work with a Sales Manager on providing support for a complex project.
  2. Undertake Sales analysis projects.
  3. Get three months' in-depth experience in Sales, working on account management.

  2. Plan and execute promotional programmes and events.

The Programme will give you the chance to travel extensively, so you need to be comfortable with the idea of travelling and working outside of your comfort zone. You’ll be challenged on a daily basis but will also have all the support you need from our existing team members to ensure that you are able to approach each task with confidence.

Placements

Before each placement begins, you will have an opportunity to discuss the options available with our HR teams and your graduate mentor. Where possible, multiple options will be provided to you so that you can take control of your own career path. We are looking for graduates who are flexible and open to new learning opportunities and new locations. We are a truly international company, and the more flexible you are, the more opportunities we will be able to offer you.

Locations

You will take part in 3 key placements at each of our Eastern Hemisphere "hub" locations - Edinburgh (Newbridge) in the UK, Dubai in the UAE and Singapore. These hub locations are offices where we have teams working in our core disciplines. As part of the programme you will also undertake placements lasting one week at each of our regional offices in the following Eastern Hemisphere locations:

Development

Mentoring

Once you have joined us as a graduate, you will be aligned to a member of the Eastern Hemisphere Board who will act as your mentor throughout the duration of the programme. How often you communicate with your mentor will in part depend on your needs, but you can expect regular 1:1 sessions for advice, organisation, insight and to focus on your development needs. Your mentor will look to inspire, motivate and challenge you with each new opportunity which is made available for you during the programme.

Training & Opportunities

During the programme, there will be a number of training and development events and opportunities available to graduates. These will include an induction programme, a mentoring programme, on-the-job training and various learning events that help graduates with the transition from academia to work life. Any other courses that are considered to be important by both yourself and your mentor will be given due consideration.

On Completion of the Programme

We see the graduate programme as bringing new talent into our organisation. We aim to provide you with the skills and background knowledge to prepare you for a long-term career with Edgen Murray.  Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be placed in a permanent position, having worked with you and your mentor, considering our business requirements and your career motivations, to identify a suitable position within the Company. A permanent position will mean that you will have a fixed location, but you will continue to have every opportunity to influence and shape your own career.
