Damian Chia

“The most challenging aspect of my job is effective interaction and communication across different cultures.”

I got my degree from the University of Leeds in Mechanical Engineering and joined Edgen Murray directly after as a graduate trainee working in the Singapore office.

In due time, I was promoted to Sales Representative in the Singapore office, but I also started to support the emerging business opportunities in the Chinese marketplace. In 2008, I relocated to Shanghai where I set up an office for Edgen Murray, which I now manage.

The most challenging aspect of my job is effective interaction and communication across different countries and different cultures. Such challenges cannot be taught in school and can only be experienced in the real world - opportunities which Edgen Murray continues to provide to me.
